SMS Terms of Service
Effective date: September 21, 2026
These SMS Terms of Service govern text messages sent by or on behalf of The L.A. Law Firm. By asking us to text you, initiating a text conversation with us, or selecting an optional SMS-consent checkbox, you agree to these terms.
Types of messages
If you consent to receive conversational and informational SMS messages from The L.A. Law Firm, you agree that we may send messages concerning:
- responses to your legal inquiry or consultation request;
- appointment scheduling, confirmations, reminders, or changes;
- intake questions and requests for documents or information;
- updates about communications, records, or next steps; and
- other service-related or case-related communications that you request or reasonably expect.
We will send promotional or marketing text messages only if you separately provide the legally required consent. Consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of hiring The L.A. Law Firm or receiving legal services.
How to opt in
You may opt in by selecting an optional unchecked consent box on our website, asking us in writing or verbally to send text messages, or initiating a text-message conversation with us. We may maintain records of the date, time, method, and language of your consent.
Message frequency and charges
Message frequency varies depending on your inquiry, appointments, requested information, and communications with the firm. Message and data rates may apply according to your wireless plan. The L.A. Law Firm does not charge a separate fee for SMS messages.
Opting out
You may opt out at any time by replying STOP. You may receive one final confirmation that your opt-out request was processed. After opting out, you will no longer receive SMS messages from that messaging program unless you opt in again. Requests sent using words such as CANCEL, END, QUIT, or UNSUBSCRIBE may also be recognized, but replying STOP is the most reliable method.

Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. No mobile opt-in or text message consent will be shared with third parties or affiliates. For more information about how we collect, use, and protect information, review our Privacy Policy.
Delivery and carrier availability
SMS delivery is subject to your wireless carrier and network availability. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Not all mobile devices or carriers may be supported. You are responsible for keeping your mobile number current and for charges imposed by your carrier.
Security and urgent communications
Text messaging is not guaranteed to be secure or confidential. Do not use SMS for emergencies, imminent deadlines, or highly sensitive information. Call 911 for emergencies. Contact the firm directly about urgent legal deadlines.
No attorney-client relationship
Sending or receiving a text message, submitting a website form, or scheduling a consultation does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship. Such a relationship begins only when The L.A. Law Firm and the client enter into a written engagement agreement.
Changes to these terms
We may update these SMS Terms of Service. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Your continued participation after an update is subject to the revised terms, to the extent permitted by law.
